Penticton Wants to Lead The Way to 2010 Mission Statement

Build a water ramp that will be an asset to the City of Penticton 's "Sport Tourism" goals and which will provide a venue for Tourists and Locals, from various sport disciplines to enjoy and train on; including Club,Provincial and National level competitors who are preparing themselves for the 2010 Olympics and beyond.

Why Penticton :

• Penticton is the perfect location for a water ramp. Weather is ideal, Sports Tourism is a guiding principle of Penticton ’s development. Tourism Services are well established. Did we mention Weather?...

• Apex Mountain Resort is the premier venue in Western Canada in Training and Competitions for Freestyle Skiing, and is the home of the BC team.

• Provincial and National teams often use Apex as their early season training site. This will grow as infrastructure improves and as the Olympics approach. A Water Ramp adds to the critical mass.

Multi User Facility

  • Not only can a Water Ramp serve as a training venue for skiers…. it will be be used by Snow Boarders, BMX, funloving tourists.
  • “Show-Events” and Competitions: Sponsors such as Clothing, Equipment, Beverages, etc will be attracted to Penticton ..
  • Provides an exciting addition to Iron Man and other “Summer Fun in Penticton ” events

Is The Ramp Right For Penticton ?

  • Not only will this project meet the the Sports Tourism development goals for Penticton , it will meet the needs of local kids and the broader Penticton community.

Operations Plan and Project Development:

  1. We have a fiscally viable business plan that addresses the operations needs of the Water Ramp Training Facility. The most important piece of the puzzle….
  2. We have an architectural concept design for discussion.
  3. We have a world class asset to Manage the operation. Our Canadian National Ski Team coach and Penticton resident, Rob Kober.
  4. We have a dedicated BCFSA team of business and sport professionals to govern the Ramp

Operator and assure Penticton ’s success as a Water Ramp Training Facility.

“Recommendation”

In addition to the ongoing viability of the project, this is a fabulous opportunity to for Penticton to participate in the training of BC athletes in their quest towards the 2010 Olympics. What better place than Penticton to showcase the country’s best.

We ask that the this Committee support our proposal by forwarding this project to Council with your comments and recommendations. Together, let’s make Penticton proud as a centre of Sports Development and Tourism in Canada . Your athletes will thank You.
